My name is Jennifer Davis. I am a mom of two, wife of nearly 16 years, a daughter, aunt, niece, sister, and a technology executive. I developed Remarkable Tributes to make it easier for people to honor people that they love with a lasting, personalized keepsake gift.

A little about your entrepreneur journey so far?

The business idea started to percolate in May of 2007 when we celebrated by grandmother’s 85^th birthday. Later that year, the concept was defined, the development team chosen, and work began early in 2008. The site went through several private pilot stages, starting with family and friends, before launching officially in January of 2009.

Tell us a little about you . . .

I’m a newlywed with a passion for creating things. I’ve always been artistic, dabbling in art/drawing classes in college, but it wasn’t until about a year ago that I seriously picked up a paint brush. I was nesting, naturally, in our new house when I thought that I could go spend hundreds of dollars on dressing up my walls with cheap artwork, or I could create my own. So that’s what I did. And let me tell you I had fun!

My friends saw my artwork and it evolved from there. It wasn’t until I kept getting requests from friends who started having babies that I realized that there was a real demand for moms to decorate their nurseries or kids rooms with adorable custom art. Thus, Adore Design Studio was born.

I created this little design shop for moms who want adorable personalized art that is also affordable. Although I don’t have any children of my own yet, you can bet I’m going to make them the cutest paintings ever!

A little about your entrepreneur journey so far?

It’s been an adventure! I didn’t get in on the whole blog community thing until about 6 months ago, when I seriously thought about starting my little company. It’s amazing how you can “meet” new people and form friendships that are completely virtual. And I’m so thankful for the friendships I’ve found so far! They’ve really helped introduce my product to the world. I’m not saying it’s easy though, I’m still slowly learning the ropes on how to network and collaborate with other fellow bloggers! I think the best part of being an entrepreneur is seeing your idea or concept come to fruition and then not knowing where it will take you!

Meet Kelly

Tell us a little about you . . .

My name Is Kelly Murphy and I am a personal publishing consultant with a great company called Heritage Makers. I help people to preserve their memories and stories in great projects like hard bound books, posters, calendars and more. In addition to my working with Heritage Makers, I am a mom of 2 great kids, a reading teacher and business owner.

My business is called Heritage Makers and we can be found online at www.WhyStoryBook.com. Besides what is available on the web, I also create projects for people and do at home workshops.

Is it mom-owned, invented, created . . .?

My business is mom invented. A mother by the name of Sharon Murdoch and her daughter, started the storybooking process when they wanted to create a book about their grandfather for their children and grandchildren. Now, I am lucky to have become a consultant in this very family friendly company. We are looking to expand and would love to have more people passionate about the power of story join our team!

A little about your entrepreneur journey so far?

I decided that I wanted to own my own business for some time. Getting involved with Heritage Maker really gave me the push to do it. To incorporate my love of reading, writing, and teaching, I opened a learning center last year. We offer tutoring and writing classes for students of all ages. We have just made a move to a local children’s bookstore where we will be running camps for young authors to publish their own books and projects.
