Meet Kim of Do-N-Slide
Tell us a little about you . . . I am a mother, a behavior analyst and a speech language pathologist. I am also the co-founder of Our Kids to Yours LLC. My work with special needs children has driven me to create a wonderful new product for all children called the Do-N-Slide.
What is your business and where can we find it? My company creates educational kids products. Our first product is called a Do-N-Slide. A Do-N-Slide is a picture 'to-do' list for children that can be used to fulfill a number of desirable goals. Do-N-Slide is made of board book material and it has 6 slider channels which are used to hold picture cards. The first picture pack to be released with the Do-N-Slide board is the 'Help Around the House' pack. A Do-N-Slide comes with 20 picture cards, 6 blank cards (for personalization) and 7 day of the week cards. It also comes with a sturdy plastic pocket to store the picture cards when they are not in use. The pictures are inserted in the left side of the board into the 'To Do' column and as tasks are completed they are slid (either by child or parent) to the right side of the board--the 'All Done' column. It's such a simple concept, but I can’t tell you how using it truly changes a child’s behavior for the better. It can also increase language development, improve ability to organize and sequence, clarify your spoken word, increase independence and can reduce resistance to routines and or activities. http://www.do-n-slide.com/
Is it mom-owned, invented, created? It is all three! Both owners, inventors and creators are moms of young children.
A little about your entrepreneurial journey so far? Its been a long, fun, rocky road. Just 2 years ago I was sitting in my room making picture to-do lists by hand wondering why I could not find anything like it in a local store . Now I can tell all the local parents to buy it at our Local Learning Express or at our local teacher supply store or at the do-n-slide website.
Where else can people find you? http://www.do-n-slide.com/ kim@ourkidstoyours.com http://www.ourkidstoyours.com/ http://mommymillionaire.ning.com/profile/Kim
Anything else you’d like to share? Because I felt the need to give back to the community that birthed the idea of a Picture-To Do List, we at Our Kids to Yours LLC have decided to donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of each Do-N-Slide unit to Autism research.
