Tell us a little about you . . .

My name is Carla and I live in sunny, southeast, Florida with my wonderful husband, Tracey, my son and twin daughters. I was a legal assistant until becoming a full time stay at home mom after the birth of my beautiful twin daughters. Once my children were over the age of 5, I started selling merchandise on eBay. It began strictly as a hobby, but quickly grew into a full time business. I now own two successful e-commerce businesses and my selling on eBay is a thing of the past.

Is it mom-owned, invented, created . . .?

The inspiration behind “Text Message Baby” came from my beautiful twin daughters who love sending text messages to their friends. They were constantly using this funky short way of communicating on their computers and cell phones. By just typing a few letters, numbers, and a smiley emoticon, they were able to have a full conversation with their friends in mere seconds with just a few key strokes. It didn't take me long to realize that I would have to learn how to text if I wanted to keep up with them! What in the world was LOL, and what did it mean? My girls quickly brought me up to speed on how to text and not long after, I found myself using this same strange jargon to communicate as well.

I decided to share my family’s love of text messaging with you by creating an adorable line of baby clothes that are as unique as your baby’s personality. Available in more than 20 bright colors, not only are Text Message Baby’s products fun to wear, they are safe for the environment because they are made with 100% certified organic cotton fibers. All of our products are hand-printed using citrus oil based chemicals which are also 100% biodegradable and non-toxic.

A little about your entrepreneur journey so far?

Creating a product that was environmentally friendly and that defined the latest trend was my passion. From creation to launching the site, Text Message Baby has been a whirlwind of opportunities. The business has flourished in just a few short months and we are now looking to the future. We have many more designs and colors to introduce and also look forward to adding a line of hats and bibs as well.
