A Message from Do-N-Slide

DNSFullSmall

We would like to thank the readers at Mommy’s Idea for providing such great feedback about Do-N-Slide. It was a source of frustration for us also, that the additional picture packs were not available alongside Help Around The House. The comments left on this site had a direct impact on our drive to find some way of making these packs available, and we feel we have come up with an innovative solution!

Not only can you now get Do-N-Slide with the Help Around The House preprinted picture cards, but we are offering (for a limited time at no extra cost) a conversion pack that will let you use the existing cards for the purpose of Potty Training or managing your Toddler’s Day!  When you feel your child has mastered their potty tasks, or have moved into the territory of being able to help out around the house, you have all the cards necessary to use your Do-N-Slide for this new purpose - maintaining the continuity of a system that they are familiar with, and providing them with the best means to encourage their participation!

The theory is simple.  You can select either Help Around The House by itself (and congratulations to you for making it through the potty training and toddler phases intact!), or Help Around The House WITH Potty Training, OR Toddler’s Day.  Whichever one you select, we will include in the box a set of professionally printed labels that can be affixed to the blank side of each card (a 2 minute job I kid you not!) and voila!…you now have 2 packs in 1.  When using Potty Training or Toddler’s Day, the Help Around The House pictures are hiding behind the scenes, ready and waiting to help you and your child when it is time for this new stage in their lives.

Thanks again, and be assured that your comments really matter!

lady_bug_shoes_small

I wanted to congratulate one of our fellow Mom Sites, www.monkey-toes.com, and let you know they will be seen on a previously aired Oprah show (Tom Cruise interview on Oprah) which will run again tomorrow (Friday 12/12.)

From Monkey Toes . . . “I wanted to share some exciting news . . . As some of you may know, during the first few minutes of the interview, our Monkey-Toes Little Ladies Mary Janes were seen in the mudroom of their house.  Oprah even picks them up and ogles about how cute they are!”

So, whether you want to see Suri’s ladybug Monkey Toes shoes on Oprah, or just share the excitement for a fellow mom entrepreneur, we thought we’d let you know.

To celebrate, Monkey Toes is offering a special- get $5 off– right on time for the Holidays!  The code is “OSURI08”

Meet Christina of Retro Designz

Tell us a little about you . . .

Well.. my name is Christina, I'm a mommy of 3. I have a daughter who is almost 6, a son who is 4, and a 4 month old baby girl. We live in upstate NY. I have been doing website design for about 10 years, and I absolutely love it. It makes me feel great to be able to take someone’s “vision” and turn it into a reality.

What is your business and where can we find it?

My business is Retro Designz. The site is at www.retro-designz.com of course :)

Is it mom-owned, invented, created . . .?

That would have to be a yes! I am a mom and I create each and every website myself!

A little about your entrepreneur journey so far?

Well, working in the service business has it ups and downs. What business doesn't? It can be very challenging sometimes to create another person’s “vision” since you don't always see things the same way, but I love what I do- and I think that I will continue on this journey for a very long time!

Where else can people find you?

I also have a blog, where I have posted website tips such as adding a banner or link, etc. and plan on adding more! My hope is to have readers leave comments letting me know what they would like to learn how to do, and then I will blog with the HTML Tips and “How-To's”. The blog is at www.retro-designz.com/designzblog – see you there!

Anything else you’d like to share?

I am looking into starting an area of my website where I will donate my services to people in need. Times are tough, and as they say- you have to spend money to make money. However, not everyone has the money to spend. I would like to spend some time working on projects for people that really have a need, but don't have the means. If you would like to help me in this project or tell me about someone you think could use this, feel free to email me at christina@retro-designz.com

Ltd Chix

http://www.ltdchix.com

The owners of LTD Chix have created a humorous way for moms to be comfortable. Their “Living the Dream” t-shirts cover everything from laundry to being a referee. I was given the “shopping” long sleeve tee, which would become a perfect gift for a friend having her third child.

Comfortable and fun, these shirts will help you smile at your everyday tasks. You’ll have the choice of your favorite design in either a long or short sleeve t-shirt. In their own words, “Being a Mom really is tough sometimes, we’re faced fairly often with some pretty insane and chaotic situations, and WE LOVE IT!  We wouldn’t trade it for the world!”

Dapper Snappers

www.dappersnappers.com

Are your kids caught somewhere between sizes? Do you take your chances every time you buy a pair of pants for your child? Introducting Dapper Snappers, with their cute little slogan, “Fix Droopy Drawers in a Snap!” I just love mom-invented products, born out of necessity, and this is one of them. After fighting to keep her son’s pants up, this mom found a better way and created Dapper Snappers!

Very often for us, the length is right, but the waist is too big. I had the chance to try Dapper Snappers and am very pleased with the result. They go on easily, with just a couple snaps and they tighten up the waist just enough to eliminate the problem of “droopy drawers!” It is one size fits all for children ages 9 months to 5 years. They currently come in 9 colors and there is a new line called Snapcessories™.

Meet Candyce of Plum Creek Mercantile

Tell us a little about you . . .

I graduated from the University of Washington with a BS in Zoology and then obtained an AA in Veterinary Technology. I worked full time in a veterinary hospital for 5 years and I continue to work relief as a Licensed Veterinary Technician at a local veterinary emergency and trauma hospital. However, the majority of my days over the last 8 years have been as a stay-at-home mom to my three children. I have an 8 year old son, 6 year old daughter and 4 year old daughter. I live in a small rural town and actively participate in many volunteer organizations. I have a passion for living a low-impact, sustainable life and am constantly striving to make changes where I can.

What is your business and where can we find it?

My business is Plum Creek Mercantile and can be found at www.plumcreekmercantile.com . I am working to establish a site that features unique, yet simple products for every day living. Products that replace a more disposable version that we have all become used to using.

Is it mom-owned, invented, created . . .?

This business was completely created out of being a mom. It started one day while reading an Oprah article about living green. It made me start thinking about what in my life was creating a large amount of waste; Ziploc bags for school lunches is what came to mind. That day I sewed my first mock up of a snack bag and haven’t looked back since.

A little about your entrepreneur journey so far?

I started by listing the snack bags and bulk food bags on Etsy to see if I could sell a couple. I was shocked and amazed at the response I received to the interest in my products. This response made me stop and contemplate a larger business presence. I have since started my own website and have plans for continued ecommerce and Northwest retailers.

Where else can people find you?

Currently my products are mostly featured on other blogs. However, this question did make me ponder that Facebook email that a friend sent me a few months ago. It inspired me to go check it out- now I can say I have a spot on Facebook. I look forward to having a blog in the future. I am still searching for a unique and creative idea behind my blog.

Anything else you’d like to share?

A huge thank you to all those people who have purchased my products and sent such positive feedback. I find my greatest joy in knowing that each set of snack bags is pulling hundreds if not thousands of plastic sandwich bags out of the environment. Thank you to all those making this small change in their lives.

How Fast They Grow

http://howfasttheygrow.com

I love to scrapbook. However, finding the time to scrapbook these days isn’t easy. I’ve tried digital scrapbook programs, but they didn’t accommodate my favorite size, 12 x 12, since you can’t print them on your computer. So I was thrilled when I discovered what is available at How Fast They Grow!

Create beautiful digital scrapbook pages easily with any of their wonderful templates and designs. They’ll print the page, in 12 x 12 size, and send it to you! Even better news- they just lowered their prices to a very affordable $5.50 per page.

They were kind enough to send me two pages that I had created and I am very happy with the clarity and the quality. I plan on making this year’s scrapbook digital at How Fast They Grow.

Tiny Tales

http://www.tiny-tales.com/

Busy moms, we have found what you’ve been looking for! We want to capture all of those special moments with our children, but find ourselves getting behind. Tiny Tales has created an easy way to keep track of those precious memories! “Baby Tales” and “Toddler Tales” allow you to easily jot down a few notes and preserve those memories as they grow. Expecting? There’s a set for you too!

From the Tiny Tales website . . . “Our clever memory kits make capturing poignant moments seem like child's play, so you can spend more time making new memories.  Simply check off one of the fun categories, jot down the story, and slip the note behind the appropriate divider. “

I started with the baby book, and do my best to keep it up, but my Tiny Tales have given me a way to keep track of all those sweet moments. Whenever my son does something wonderful, sweet, or for the first time, I get out my cards and write it down. Even if it’s to write what he did this week or this month, it’s a nice reminder for me.

Meet Laura of My Life On Time

Tell us a little about you . . .

I left the corporate world in December 2006 when my husband accepted a new job in Houston. We sold our home and moved over 1,000 miles away. At the same time, we left for China for two weeks to bring home our new daughter. So, our lives changed dramatically two years ago and we are finally finding some normalcy in our house!

My daughters are both in Kindergarten and they keep me very busy. I’m a stay-at-home working mom who is never home!

What is your business and where can we find it?

Busy people are surrounded by busy people! My Life On Time planners offer space to track events for your most important people every day. The possibilities are endless. I work one-on-one with my clients to develop a planner that fits their lifestyle. All planners are customized and personalized. I have an in-home studio, as well as an online presence at www.mylifeontime.com.

Is it mom-owned, invented, created . . .?

My company is mom-owned and my time-management products are mom-designed and mom-made. I also offer other featured items that I have found to help me and I want to share those with my clients.

A little about your entrepreneur journey so far…

The journey has been a slow process. It started out as something I did for myself and, after spending so many hours developing my own planner, I made the decision to market the customized planners to others. My sister and mom started using the planners, and when people started to take notice of what they were using, it was a hit! My sister and mom have been my best salespeople!!!

Where else can people find you?

My website is http://www.mylifeontime.com

Facebook (Laura Gray Marusa)

A blog is in the works!!! The url will be posted on my website (www.mylifeontime.com) once I get it up and running!

Anything else you’d like to share?

Two things I believe in:

Life isn’t about finding yourself, it’s about creating yourself, and

In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.
