Girl in a Dress was started by a mom and her 9 year old daughter.  It’s a great story . . .

All good fairytales begin with “Once upon a time,” and that is exactly how our fashion fairytale begins. Once upon a time there was a nine-year-old girl named Taylor, who had a very stylish imagination. One day, she decided to write a poem about her love for playing dress-up. She called the poem “Girl in a Dress.”

Taylor, who also loved to draw, decided that the poem needed a few fashionable accessories, so she drew three pictures – a girl in a tiara, a girl in a beret and a girl in a tutu. The story of Girl in a Dress could have ended here, but Taylor’s mom thought it was just the beginning of the story. Believing in the magic of Taylor’s creativity, she encouraged her to start a fashionable little business. Together, the two turned Taylor’s designs into chic little tees and dresses. Little girls everywhere can now enjoy wearing Girl in a Dress - giving our fashion fairytale a happily-ever-after.

Meet Gina

Tell us about you.....................

My Name is Gina. I am the mom of 9 year old Taylor, the talented
artist behind Girl in a Dress. I am 31 years old and work part time
while Taylor is at school. My father always had me involved at a young
age in our family business. I wanted to also get my daughter involved
at a young age and become a young entrepreneur. We became part of a
program called kid-biz. It is sponsored by our local college (Buffalo
State) and runs during the summer months. The program encourages
children to open a business and learn how to run it. The children are
allowed to then sell there goods at a local outside market during the
summer months. Taylor wanted to sell something that she would be able
to incorporate her love for art, drawing and fashion. From there we
came up with the idea of putting her drawings on tees. They were such
a great hit that we decided to turn this in an official business. I
love being creative and also being able to work together with Taylor
is amazing!  

What is your business and Where can we find it?

Girl in a Dress is a mom and daughter team biz. All the designs on
our lovely little tees are designed by 9 year old Taylor. Taylor loves
art and fashion. She loves being able to share her love for drawing
with others and wants to inspire others her age to be creative. I
swear she should have been born with a marker in her hand. Together we
make a great team. I am the business savvy one and Taylor is the
talented artist with hopes of being a Fashion Designer someday! 

Girl in a Dress is new to the children's clothing market. We just
launched at the end of Decemeber. Currently our products can be
purchased thru our website at www.GirlinaDress.com. We are currently
in the process of getting our products in stores throughout the USA.  

Our products are are definitely unique, from our one of a kind designs to the quality of materials that we choose to use!

Is it Mom-owned, invented, created....? 

We are a mother and daughter team biz.  

A little about your entrepreneur journey so far? 

It has been a great journey thus far. We have had amazing feedback
from the online community of moms and also locally. We will be
featured in a article in Business First (local business magazine) in
the next several weeks. Also, we will be featured in several gifting
baskets being sent out to celebrity children.

Young girls love the fact another young girl, just like them
designed the tee! We are inspiring young girls that they too can be
creative and can be entreprenuers at any age. 

Our line consists of the finest cotton tees embellished with one of a kind artwork designed by 9 year old Taylor. There are subtle swarowski rhinestone embellishments on each tee.
