Yummy, yummy, yummy . . . Pop Chips!

popchips popchips3 popchips2

These are sooo good!  My husband brought home a bag one day and it was gone in no time at all.  I immediately contacted the good folks at Pop Chips, told them how much I loved them, and told them I’d be posting a review on Mommy’s Idea.

They have several flavors, including original, cheddar, and sour cream & onion.  We have tried them all and they are all delicious!  Well, it was my husband that tried the barbeque and the salt & vinegar, but he’s a pretty good taste tester when it comes to chips.

I suggest you head over to their faq page to read more about this healthy alternative to other snacks.  But here are a few interesting tidbits from their website . . .

“popchips potato popped chips have 0 grams of trans fat and no saturated fat except for sour cream & onion and cheddar flavors which have 0.5 grams because, well, that’s the way cream and cheese are.”

“For us, it's simple: no fake colors, no fake flavors, no preservatives, no fluorescent orange fingertips, and no wiping your greasy chip hand on your jeans.”

Traveling with a Car Seat? Try the Traveling Toddler!

traveling toddler 3

I have been waiting to try out the Traveling Toddler for some time now, but I needed the right trip to test it on.  This was it.  We recently took a trip that involved all kinds of people moving devices- cars, moving walkways, airplanes, trains, elevators, and escalators.  Three adults, two children, four bags, and two car seats.  I packed as light as possible, but there was still a lot to carry.

Traveling Toddler 2

I have to say that we didn’t get a chance to try it with our son in it like they show in the pictures.  I believe it would have worked very well, it’s just that he was happily strolling through the airport rolling his little suitcase behind him like a wonderful little traveler.  :)  It was so helpful to be able to have one less car seat to carry though.  Plus we could throw in a few things we had also accumulated in addition to the bags, like a blanket, jackets, and a few toys.

When it was time to take everything apart, we didn’t have to worry about an extra piece of luggage, we just unhooked the strap and threw it in a bag. This may be exactly what you need for that next trip with the kids.

Wysi Wipes . . . useful AND fun!

wysi wipes

*See below for how you can win some!

These are really cool.  They are tiny little discs that are so easy to take with you.  Just throw them in a pocket or a diaper bag.  When you need a cloth, all you have to do is wet it!  It is a nice size cloth and strong enough to wipe a table, little hands and faces, or whatever else you might need cleaned.  My son loves to watch it grow from the little disc to the big cloth and then he loves to clean with it.  :)  These are great to keep around just in case- in the car, your coat pocket, a stroller.  As long as you have water nearby, they are really easy to use.  Head over and check out Wysi Wipes for yourself!  (Once you get your own, you can enter their contest showing how you use them!  Click here to check out contest rules.)

In their own words . . .

A biodegradable Wysi™ wipe is a compact 3/4 inch [2cm] wide, but almost instantly, it turns into an ample 9 x 10 inch powerful, durable, landfill friendly, personal wipe made of cellulose.

Plain and simple Wysi™ is a pure hypoallergenic wipe suitable for all skin types. Even the oxygen based whitener H2O2 has environment benefits.

The only additive is the liquid you chose! Try refreshing clean water from your bottle, stream, lake, kettle, tap or hose. Splash on a tablespoon of liquid and watch it grow! Wet & unroll an absorbent, practical, multipurpose, baby soft, scent-free cloth.

Baby Banquet

My little one is now eating solid foods, so when I came upon the Baby Banquet I just had to try it.  It’s dishwasher safe and BPA free; two things I always look for.  I love that there are multiple sections for food.  I like to be able to keep things separate and this gives me a third section to mix them if I’d like.  You can put baby food jars right inside the sections, or fill them with cheerios, fruits, or other snacks for your baby or toddler.  You can also put the baby food directly in the container.

There is a handle and it also has an extra section for snacks, utensils, etc. You can keep all you need for the next snack or meal right inside it.  It all fits securely under the lid.  (I wouldn’t expect there to be a ton of room, but it’s plenty for things like dry cereal packets, a few jars, spoons, or a bib.)  What a great item to have with you when you’re on the go or for a trip with the kids. The Baby Banquet is available in pink or blue.  Check it out at

Very smart idea . . . portion control bowls!

If you’re watching what you eat, here’s something that will help you with those portion sizes.  Measure Up Bowls have grooves inside that let you know the amount of food you put in.  So if you’re trying to figure out what that 3/4 cup of cereal actually looks like, just pour!

I love simple ideas that make it easy to make a change.  Not only do these bowls help me to keep track of portions, they also remind me to watch my portion size.  Keeping track helps me visualize the amounts I should be eating.  It also helps me see when I am essentially doubling the calories if I fill the ice cream any higher!

This clever idea came to Heather Harvey when she was trying to measure her portions and she wanted to save a step.  Read her weight loss story here.  She is now the proud owner of Measure Up Bowls after working hard to make her idea a reality.  More products are in the works.  Check out Measure Up Bowls for yourself at
